Since they are far away they should be fine. What you should look for is if they are blushing. That means that they are too close to other puddle slimes or there are too many. 5 puddle slimes had a slightly higher variation in plorts, this might be because the plorts are more likely to fall out of the pond due to crowding. tl;dr When farming puddle plorts, 5 puddle slimes + rubber ducky still beats the production rate of 4 puddles slimes + rubber ducky.
